How a hair salon and a concept store became a place where people come for more than just a cut.

Inge has been cutting in Mierlo for years.
Long before MIY, Inge ran her own salon in the village. Regular clients, a calm chair, and the time to listen to someone before the scissors came near. That never changed, even when she worked elsewhere for a while. What did change was where she wanted to do it.
Isabella wanted a shop.
Daughter Isabella always had an eye for beautiful things. Vintage clothing from markets, jewellery from small designers, things she would want to buy herself. Opening a shop on her own felt too daunting. With her mother in it, it felt different, because then they shared the nerves and the business.
In February 2025 we opened the doors.
We found a space on Willem-Alexanderstraat 2A, right in the centre. Inge set up a chair, Isabella filled the walls and shelves with her selection. We named the shop MIY Bij ons thuis, because that is the feeling we wanted to give, someone's living room, not a shop with a counter.
What MIY does for you.
You can come in for a haircut and walk out with a pair of earrings. Or step in for a gift and book a cut for next week. Both work, both at the same time too. And if you just want to look around without buying anything, that is fine too.
